Minor in Event Management

The minor in Event Management will prepare students for exciting and challenging careers in event management, including wedding planning and organizing for corporate, sports, private and community events. They will explore all facets of the events industry in the quickly changing post-pandemic marketplace.

Concentration in Event Management

The addition of an optional concentration in Event Management for Hospitality, Resort and Tourism Management students will allow those interested in event management-related careers to tailor their education and strengthen the skills they will need for work in the competitive events industry.

Students will choose 5 courses (15 credits) from the following selection:

USCB Dream Wedding

Hospitality, Resort, and Tourism Management students may enroll in the following course:

  • HRTM 350 Wedding and Special Event Planning 

Students enrolled in this course are gaining real-world experience as wedding planners.  Learning objectives include understanding the business model behind weddings and putting on a real one — including planning, budgeting, promotion, client service, staffing, wedding etiquette and more. Faculty supervise the students as they work with the bride, groom, venue, and local vendors to produce a “USCB Dream Wedding.” For more information, contact Dr. Eva Smith
