Unearthing the Past on Hilton Head Island
In the spring and summer of 2019, USCB anthropology professor Dr. Kimberly Cavanagh and her students spent almost every weekend excavating at the Barnwell Tabby site on Hilton Head Island . They found pieces of charcoal, animal bones, glass, pottery fragments and other clues to human activity on the site over centuries. The artifacts they found are being processed and analyzed.
