I am an Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at USCB. I earned my BS in Marine Science from Stockton University, my MS in Biology from Rutgers University, and my PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of South Carolina Columbia. My students and I are studying the ecological effects of sea level rise on the long-term viability of coastal habitats. I am especially interested in the effects of enhanced freshwater runoff from developed coastal areas on the structure of the plant and animal communities in the Lowcountry’s unique and vulnerable high-salinity estuaries. Organisms living in high-salinity estuaries of the Sea Island Coastal Region of South Carolina and Georgia are quite susceptible to large, rapid inputs of fresh water. I teach Ecology and Evolution, Conservation Biology, the Biology of Marine Organisms, Marine Ecology and the Ecology of the Sea Islands of South Carolina and Georgia.
