Jana Wheeler, PPCNP-BC, CHSE, CNE
Assistant Professor, Nursing
Simulation Lab Coordinator

I have been a Nurse since 1993 when I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. I got my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at Yale as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) in 1999. I worked as PNP in various settings, mostly in Nashville, TN until 2016 when I started at USCB. At that time, I also started my Doctoral studies and got my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2017 from Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). I still practice as a PNP one day per week at MUSC in a Children’s Specialty Clinic in Beaufort. I love teaching. I run the simulation lab and I really enjoy using this method of experiential learning to bridge the gap between class and clinical practice. Because of my work in the sim lab, I have the pleasure of working with the nursing students all five of their semesters in Nursing School at USCB and watching them grow into professional nurses!
In my spare time I like taking my 2 Boston Terriers to the beach with my husband, riding my bike, sewing and painting.
