Public Health Internships

Sand Sharks Gain Real World Skills Through Public Health Internships

Our public health undergraduate internship program at the University of South Carolina Beaufort offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various public health settings. Students who complete public health internships gain valuable experience in

  • Community health
  • Epidemiology
  • Health promotion and disease prevention
  •  Environmental health

USCB faculty and staff work closely with students to ensure they receive mentorship and guidance throughout their internship. With a focus on preparing students for a successful public health career, USCB public health internships offer valuable networking opportunities and practical skills that will enhance students' resumes.

Juniors in USCB's Public Health program do 90 hours of fieldwork, and seniors complete a 135-hour internship. Both experiences give students opportunities for hands-on, practical work in the community. Students take what they have learned in the classroom and apply this knowledge to real world settings in public health and education. To sign up for your internship, complete the internship agreement form with the organization and return to Dr. Diana Gill electronically at dgill8@uscb.edu.

Placements for USCB Public Health Graduates

Ashley Hamm
“I chose Public Health as a way to channel my passion for empowering people to live their best lives. I got the opportunity to put into practice what we learned about program planning, implementation and evaluation by creating a health education program at a local daycare to inform parents and caregivers about the importance of rear-facing car seats for children over 2 years old.”
